January 2023: My increasing difficulties with mobility has stunted my writing verve in the past few months, so it is time to turn to technology to ease the arduousness and re-establish a decent flow. Although not on paper, writing on a blog does have the advantage of being painless for more than a page. I do miss the feel of pen & paper, though...
Then there is the dampener: All I can think of writing is about Long Covid... Not the most illustrious source of inspiration, is it!?
BUT: The truth is, using the Fatigue Management Diary provided by my Occupational Therapist from the Community Rehabilitation Team is the best thing to implement since the warmer weather allowed me to mobilize a little more easily last Summer. It is time-consuming and not terribly appealing when I have energy and had rather use it for 'useful' things around the home, such as tidying up. However, I cannot deny that now I can monitor my energy levels and, more often than not, I can avoid crashing -or at the very least I will be, once I have mastered the art of braking...
I must concentrate on these three slides:
Following this CFS protocol for over three months has definitely been fruitful: I can ensure that the pattern of activity and rest is suited to my fatigue levels; I can maintain the same fatigue level (even lower it on occasions) instead of going through the Boom & Bust cycle; I can track my daily fatigue levels and see that it does not change much over time, but I am told that using this Fatigue Management Diary should eventually bring about more permanent lowering of this chronic fatigue that has been plaguing me since my Covid 19 infection in December 2021.
So grateful for this manageable course of self-help, as well as the mobility aids provided by the Occupational Therapists. Feeling blessed, despite the unknown prospects of this new illness.
